The word Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words, Ayur-life and Veda-knowledge (Science) and is aptly commonly referred as ‘The science of Life.’

What Is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is the world’s oldest living system of wellness, rooted in ancient Vedic tradition. It teaches that true health comes from harmony between the body, mind, and spirit, and emphasizes personal responsibility, natural rhythms, and food-based living.

Rather than focusing on symptoms, Ayurveda views each person as a unique whole, using herbs, food, daily routines, and self-awareness to restore internal balance.

Understanding Your Constitution (Dosha)

Ayurveda is based on three energies:

  • Vata – governs movement, the nervous system, and elimination

  • Pitta – governs digestion, heat, and transformation

  • Kapha – governs structure, lubrication, and stability

Your Prakriti (original constitution) and Vikriti (current imbalance) help determine which foods, herbs, and habits will bring balance.

Ayurveda does not treat disease by name, but works to correct doshic imbalances in the tissues (Dhatus) and bodily channels (Srotas).

The Ayurvedic Diet

Each person has different digestive needs. What works for one may harm another. Ayurveda offers individualized nutrition plans based on dosha, season, digestive strength, and current state.

During a consultation, you receive:

  • A personalized meal plan

  • Seasonal guidelines for balance

  • Traditional herb and spice suggestions

  • Support for detoxification and digestive fire (Agni)

Ayurveda teaches: “You are what you digest.”

Food as Fuel

Food is your body’s fuel. When matched to your constitution:

  • Energy improves

  • Digestion strengthens

  • Tissues are nourished

  • The mind becomes calm and clear

Imbalance appears when the wrong foods are eaten—even if they seem “healthy.” Ayurveda emphasizes food compatibility, timing, and preparation over calories or fads.

Consultations

In-person / Zoom Consultations

An initial Ayurvedic consultation typically lasts 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the number of concerns. Each session is designed to provide a comprehensive traditional evaluation, including:

  • Darshanam (visual observation)

  • Prashnam (detailed questioning)

  • Sparshanam (touch, including pulse and tongue analysis)

This approach helps determine:

  • Your Prakriti (birth constitution)

  • Your Vikriti (current imbalance)

  • Digestive strength (Agni)

  • Toxin levels (Ama)

  • Tissue quality (Dhatus)

  • Channel function (Srotas)

  • Vitality and immune essence (Ojas, Prana)

Once this is assessed, you will receive a personalized program that may include:

  • Customized meal and lifestyle guidelines

  • Traditional Ayurvedic herbal formulas (powders, teas, ghees, or oils)

  • Cleansing or rejuvenation recommendations

  • Ongoing education to maintain your own health awareness

Follow-up appointments are typically scheduled after 1 to 2 weeks to review progress and make necessary adjustments.

Ayurveda is a lifelong path of self-care. One consultation can bring great insight; continued guidance deepens the benefit and empowers you with the tools to live in balance.
